sssssh #04 – Correspondences Screening
This screening will include two series of correspondences by Valentina Alvarado Matos (Cartas a Nazli Dincel, 2020) and Bárbara Sánchez Barroso (Cartas desde el bosque, 2017).
Valentina Alvarado Matos (Cartas a Nazli Dincel, 2020, 15 minutos)
Four letters by Valentina Alvarado Matos to Nazli Dincel during the spring-summer months of 2020. At the moment when the confinement of 2020 in the houses seemed to end, this correspondence between the two filmmakers begins, where they start from the experience of the house and the confined bodies.
These letters were part of the project Hay cartas que detienen un instante más la noche, curated by Sergi Alvárez Riosalido for La Casa Encendida.
Bárbara Sánchez Barroso (Cartas desde el bosque, 2017, 35 minutos)
In 2015 Bárbara Sánchez Barroso decided to leave behind her life in the city and move to a community in the Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire County (England), a natural place removed from everything she knew and from what any city represents: the competitive individual distanced from everything natural, 24- hour consumerism and technological, ideological and cultural dependence. This experience has made her reflect on the authenticity and beauty of what has always been here, predating us, which we did not create.
