Intimidad Transescalar Exhibition

The Barcelona-based artist and goldsmith Teresa Estapé is staging an artistic intervention at the Geominero Museum in Madrid from 18 February to 12 April 2026.

The institution is opening its display cases to a contemporary intervention to attempt a critical mediation: to position minerals not only as geological evidence, but as nodes in material chains—extraction, circulation, value—that affect territories and bodies.

Each of the pieces made from minerals or metals as diverse as gold, talc, pyrite, jet, diamond, and lapis lazuli has been the subject of exhaustive geological and historical research, as a starting point for addressing their use and cultural value and highlighting the capacity of a portable object so close to the body to generate discourses on identity and value.

The pieces of jewellery and small sculptures are displayed in showcases alongside the raw minerals from which they are made. In this gesture, the museum enables a trans-scale dialogue between the intimate scale of the wearer and the planetary scale of the materials, highlighting the symbolic capacity of jewellery to concentrate stories of value, ritual and affection.
