Art on Paper 2026 Fair

The curatorial principle explores the life and trajectory of artists and how Pieter Laurens Mol looks obliquely, and often ironically, at the accepted reputation of some major twentieth-century artists like Piet Mondrian or Yves Klein. Rather than paying straightforward homage, he questions how artistic reputation itself gets built over time, using coincidences of biography, time and place as conceptual material. This oblique gaze quietly disturbs the status quo of what we think we know about these figures, while at the same time Mol, as an artist, looks sideways at the lives and legacies of his predecessors, with irony, precision and genuine affection.
