Art on Paper 2026 Fair

For its participation in Art on Paper 2026, Chiquita Room presents a project by Pieter Laurens Mol that explores the lives and trajectories of artists, looking indirectly, and often ironically, at the established reputation of some key figures of the 20th century, such as Piet Mondrian and Yves Klein. Rather than paying direct homage to them, Mol questions how artistic reputation itself is constructed over time, using biographical, temporal, and spatial coincidences as conceptual material. This oblique gaze subtly unsettles the status quo of what we think we know about these figures. At the same time, as an artist, he looks sideways at the lives and legacies of his predecessors, with irony, precision, and genuine affection.
