OFFSCREEN Paris 2025 Fair

From the 21st to the 26th October 2025, Chiquita Room will participate in the OFFSCREEN Paris contemporary art fair at the Chapelle Saint-Louis de la Salpêtrière, presenting the projects Models of Seeing and Ekphrasis by the collective Estampa (Barcelona, 2003). On this occasion, we present their latest production, which explores the frictions between human vision and artificial vision through artificial intelligence computer models.

Models of Seeing recovers a series of historical photographs analysed by YOLO9000, an artificial vision model trained with millions of images and 9,000 words. When the system fails and meanings collapse, poetic interference opens us up to other ways of seeing. Offscreen will also feature Ekphrasis, a work produced specifically for the exhibition The World Through AI at the Jeu de Paume in Paris. This audiovisual installation algorithmically describes fragments of various films, exposing both the mechanics of data extraction and the impossibility of translating images into words and words into images.
