There is no act of artistic creation without Colleen‘s total presence – physical, mental and emotional – in front of her working tools. Cécile Schott has always maintained a loving dialogue with the many musical instruments that have allowed her to express herself musically for more than 20 years under her stage name, and more than 30 since she started playing a humble classical guitar in her bedroom as a teenager. 

The common thread of her work has been the act of “diving” into the musical material, an immersion that has never been as deep as with the synthesis. This is the working method she began to explore in depth with her eighth album, Le jour et la nuit du réel, made with a single semi-modular synthesizer, the Moog Grandmother, and two delay effects, in a 100% analogue process. Synthesis, the art of creating and sculpting sounds through electronic circuits, is an inexhaustible playground, as the combinations are practically infinite. 

For 14 months, from August 2021 to October 2022, 6 days a week, Cécile sat in front of her Grandmother in the tiny space of her studio in her flat in Barcelona. There she was simply present, changing parameters, wiring patches, listening to the sounds that appeared, taking notes and recording sketches, to return to them again and again, until the sprout of this double album that aims to reveal, through radical transformations and permutations, the complexity of the real and the impossibility of embracing it completely. In this session, we will listen to the album on vinyl and she will share the scores and patch sheets, to make us witnesses of her research.
