Artesanal Big Data
2025
The artist Laura Zuccaro uses traditional Catalan fabric (mocador de farcell) in the work Artesanal Big Data as a metaphor for a vast network of ancestral memory sustained through artisanal technology.
Originally, the mocador de farcell held great cultural and historical value and was used for centuries to carry food and belongings or as a storage system. For Laura, the fabric on which she paints functions as a great switchboard of human memory, bringing together infinite codes from a minimal unit: in this case, an analog pixel.
100 × 100 cm.

Laura Zuccaro
Laura Zuccaro's work arises from the exploration of color, space and form, both in the material plane and that one of the spirit. She uses different media such as drawing, collage, photography or painting, under a strict control of the composition and the temporality of each material, working in a restricted, povera, and austere way.
