Todavía siempre Exhibition
Todavía siempre brings together a selection of works from the last ten years in which Laía Argüelles Folch (Zaragoza, 1986) has developed her methodology of thought and composition, based on research and work with materials found in flea markets, collector’s shops, and second-hand bookstores from various countries. Interested in the potential of images and language as a way of relating to the world, the artist addresses notions such as materiality, collection, and repetition through exercises of assembly, folding, and unfolding. The works materialize this interest in the nature of images and their capacity to propose possible futures, while also pointing to the construction of meanings that are not univocal or definitive, but open, mobile, and sensitive.
This exhibition approaches the image understood as presence rather than as representation, the translatability between image and body, and the (im)possibilities of identification. Through a search for images associated with the search for meaning, Todavía siempre delves into the use of imagination as a tool to create knowledge and enrich our capacity to conceive reality.
