White Pages
2013
The white page, a symbol with multiple meanings, is more than just a reflection of a creative blockage. For Ignasi Aballí, visual artist, it is a destiny in itself, a space where the gaze loses itself, transcending the image. For him, the absence of words does not imply a lack of meaning; it is a saturation of the visible, a dazzling light. The blank page is pure immanence, a horizon of infinite possibilities. Not all blank pages are the same; each has its tone, texture and imperfections, none is empty. Looking at this non-place is an exercise in contemplation similar to other proposals in the pictorial tradition of monochrome.
Ignasi Aballí invites us to reflect on colour, the materiality of the support, the presence of the absence of images as image itself, as well as the inexorable flow of time.
White Pages. 50 blank pages. Original size, starting with a whiter one and ending with a browner one showing a gradation of colour.
