Art-o-rama 2026 Fair

The presentation by Chiquita Room and Maria Freire Montané for Art-o-rama 2026 emerges from several visits to the mountains of Catalonia and their inhabitants. The artist is drawn to the search for the liminal dimension within telluric space and its multiple expressions, through the body and in dialogue with nature. She explores what the mountain itself offers, in harmony with the forces of multiple connections: the attentive ecosystem.

This is a path to be explored through the body and by means of a transversal methodology, where various multidisciplinary practices converge, such as painting and sculpture. Her interest focuses on languages of cooperation and active presence in relation to the natural environment: versatile codes that exist beyond hegemonic logic.

The forest and its inhabitants inspire Maria Freire Montané through their ways of persevering, welcoming one another, diversifying, and existing. The necessity of weaving conscious bridges with the earth that sustains us, in a context of acceleration and alienation, is one of the objectives of this artistic proposal. She conceives the project as a drift: an exploration of territory in order to bring the body into resonance with earth forces. To this end, she works through an adaptable methodology, shaped by what the context itself proposes, from a position of engagement and attentiveness. Cooperation with the ecosystem, respect, and presence form the structural foundation of her installation.

Artist

Maria Freire Montané

Maria Freire Montané (Granollers, 1995) was trained in the Montseny Valley and graduated in Art and Design at the Escola Massana, a refuge and starting point for her explorations. In her practice, she investigates the concept of liminal space, the boundaries between the tangible and the invisible, and she reflects on the processes that connect us with our inner strength, through listening, in close relationship with nature. Her work is structured through a transversal methodology that integrates performance, painting and sculpture.
