Hernán Aguirre

Hernán Aguirre is a visual artist. His practice is based on the assemblage of discarded materials, personal archives and objects charged with use and affection, through which he constructs works that explore public identities, the bonds between people and objects, and the artist’s life as a social destiny. In his work, the precarious and the residual are articulated through an aesthetic of fragile luxury, generating tensions between dignity, loss and desire.

He studied at the National University of Tucumán, specializing in ceramics, and completed the Artists Program at Torcuato Di Tella University. He has received the arteBA Award (2018), the Recoleta Cultural Centre Young Artists Biennial Award (2017) and the Creation Grant from the National Arts Fund (2019). He has participated in residencies at Mundo Dios, La Ira de Dios, and Yungas House, and has exhibited at institutions, fairs, and biennials such as arteBA, Bienal Sur, SWAB Art Fair, Feria Ch.ACO and Salón Acme (Mexico).

He is co-director of EX’ sielo, a curatorial project based in Hospitalet de Llobregat, Barcelona, focused on the exchange between Argentina and Catalonia.
