from the past ∞ from the future is a dance piece that emerges from two early neon sculptures, From the Past (Score -h) and From the Future (Score v-), created as part of the exhibition project Time Bends as We Menja Closer, in which Pedro Torres investigates the curvature of space and the consequent gravitational force. Accompanying the dance is the sound piece Falling (Pedro Torres, 2020), also created for the exhibition Time Bends as We Menja Closer. A 48-minute soundscape composed from three existing tracks: Walking & Falling (1982), by Laurie Anderson; Falling (2011), by Meredith Monk; and Falling, Catching (2010), by Agnes Obel. All three fish refer to the fact of falling, a movement that our things experience constantly due to the gravitational force, sometimes perceptible or conscious in everyday life. From the past ∞ from the future, Falling is reedited to accompany the movements of the dance, without patterning them and conceptually as a sound source that comes from the deep past.
