SUMMARY:Hook\, Line and Sinker
DESCRIPTION:Pieter Laurens Mol produced his first edition in 1967 and\, throughout his career\, has created nearly one hundred works in multiple formats. These editions offer a concentrated reflection of his entire artistic practice. They are neither commercial reproductions nor derivatives of other works\, but autonomous artworks conceived from the initial idea and realized only when the concept has been fully developed. \nMol’s work is characterized by the inseparable unity of idea\, form\, material\, and technique. For him\, material serves as a direct carrier of meaning. He therefore employs elements such as lead\, iron\, paper\, sand\, and photographs for their symbolic\, historical\, and mythological associations\, connecting them to themes such as death\, time\, gravity\, energy\, space\, and human fragility. \nThis exhibition presents a small selection from his diverse body of editions\, an open-ended practice marked by the constant intersection of themes\, where each work occupies a point of convergence between multiple meanings. \nOpening on Thursday\, September 17 at 6:00 PM as part of the Barcelona Gallery Weekend Flash Program.

SUMMARY:Lo que tiene vuelo
DESCRIPTION:This exhibition explores\, through a material and immaterial notion of inheritance\, the movements and transformations of expressive gesture\, particularly the gestures of drawing and writing\, and the ways in which we internalize them until they become our own\, accompanying us in our search for and construction of meaning in the world. \nDrawing on materials found or rediscovered both within and beyond the artist’s archive\, as well as on revisited places\, the works that make up this project return to old traces\, paths already traveled\, and rewritten words in order to reposition themselves around them and\, from that point\, engage in an act of transformation. The techniques employed range from screen printing on textiles to field sound recording\, including frottage\, graphite-powder stenciling\, and monotype printing on paper. \nOpening on Thursday\, September 17 at 6:00 PM as part of Barcelona Gallery Weekend.

SUMMARY:Once We Existed
DESCRIPTION:“Once We Existed” brings together two generations of artists around the passage of time and what remains from lived experiences. Through a selection of works by Pieter Laurens Mol (The Netherlands\, 1946) and Laía Argüelles Folch (Spain\, 1986)\, this exhibition explores the active force shaping us humans in relation to the fleeting nature of life. Forty years separate these two artists\, yet their work converges in a shared attentiveness to traces: those left by decisions\, presences and absences inscribed in the spirit of the times. What once existed does not disappear entirely: it sediments\, transforms\, and haunts the present with metaphysical persistence. The exhibition inaugurates Chiquita Room’s Brussels space at Passage Bailli Louise as a founding gesture: a place where time carries meaning and the encounter between different trajectories generates resonances.

SUMMARY:Art-o-rama 2026
DESCRIPTION:The presentation by Chiquita Room and Maria Freire Montané for Art-o-rama 2026 emerges from several visits to the mountains of Catalonia and their inhabitants. The artist is drawn to the search for the liminal dimension within telluric space and its multiple expressions\, through the body and in dialogue with nature. She explores what the mountain itself offers\, in harmony with the forces of multiple connections: the attentive ecosystem. \nThis is a path to be explored through the body and by means of a transversal methodology\, where various multidisciplinary practices converge\, such as painting and sculpture. Her interest focuses on languages of cooperation and active presence in relation to the natural environment: versatile codes that exist beyond hegemonic logic. \nThe forest and its inhabitants inspire Maria Freire Montané through their ways of persevering\, welcoming one another\, diversifying\, and existing. The necessity of weaving conscious bridges with the earth that sustains us\, in a context of acceleration and alienation\, is one of the objectives of this artistic proposal. She conceives the project as a drift: an exploration of territory in order to bring the body into resonance with earth forces. To this end\, she works through an adaptable methodology\, shaped by what the context itself proposes\, from a position of engagement and attentiveness. Cooperation with the ecosystem\, respect\, and presence form the structural foundation of her installation.
